Bristol Indoor Bowls Club, located at 198 South Liberty Lane in Ashton Vale is a modern air conditioned international standard 9 rink indoor bowls club with a large function room and a meeting room which are available for hire.
Accessible from Winterstoke Road and from the South Bristol Link Road.
Welcome
We welcome new members from the age of 7 to 99+.
Economically priced refreshments are available whenever the club is open. A large function room is available to hire for dining or special events. A small meeting room is also available.
For those visiting the club for the first time there are “indoor bowls club” road signs showing the route off Winterstoke Road or off the South Bristol link road. Post code BS3 2TY inserted into the sat nav or smart phone will direct you to the club entrance off South Liberty Lane. We are at the end of the No.24 bus route.
There are major road works on the link road from 7 April to 4 September 2026. Approach from Winterstoke Road if you wish to avoid them during that period.
The club provides a warm friendly welcome to all, with a generous amount of free parking on site. We also have manual and electric bowls wheelchairs and other disabled bowler aids available for general use.

The EIBA has updated information for disabled bowlers together with guidance in the use of suitable and approved equipment, see link below. We have a Dales powered wheelchair which can be used to transport you up and down the rinks as well as to bowl from.

Bristol has a Clean Air Zone, which if your vehicle is not compliant will affect people coming across town and from the North. The World Singles and Mixed Pairs Indoor Bowls Championships for 2022 were held at the club between Monday April 25th and Friday April 29th 2022. The City & County of Bristol Indoor Bowls Club Ltd. subscribes to the Bowls England safeguarding and anti-bullying policies which can be found at www.bowlsengland.com/
Good News:
The Bowls Development Alliance are using the club as a base to promote indoor and outdoor bowls in the region and provide workshops for outdoor clubs to assist them in increasing and retaining membership and participation in the sport.
A solar energy project by Bristol Energy Cooperative installing 370 photovoltaic (PV) panels, with a capacity of 152kW, on the club roof was completed on 14 March 2020 and is generating electricity at a much reduced rate for the club, with excess fed back into the grid. Nearly 50% of our electrical energy is being provided by the panels. For more information about the project see links below.
